DONCASTER ST LEGER 1940

The 164th winner of the St Leger (now labelled the Yorkshire St Leger), held on Saturday 23rd November 1940 at Thirsk because the Doncaster Classic was abandoned, was Turkhan, a bay colt by Bahram out of Theresina, owned by HH Aga Khan. A field of 6 runners contested this substitute race which was worth the reduced amount of £980. (Equivalent to £58,800 in 2017)
